AI is increasingly embedded in globally used services and products, often transcending cultural, national, and jurisdictional boundaries. However, AI systems\u2014such as General Purpose AI or specialized applications\u2014now raise many critical questions when deployed across diverse global contexts, including cultural and socio-economic bias, infrastructural resilience, environmental sustainability, legal and human rights compliance, and more. Over the past decade, discussions on AI governance have evolved in response to these challenges, with formal international efforts gaining momentum in the last 5\u20137 years. While there is a continuing discussion of the need for global alignment, approaches remain fragmented due to diverse regulatory, cultural, geopolitical, and infrastructural contexts.
