Leurs travaux sont mis en lumi\u00e8re dans le dernier \u00e9pisode de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/originals\/series\/primer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Primer<\/a>, une nouvelle s\u00e9rie documentaire cr\u00e9\u00e9e par Bloomberg Originals qui analyse les sciences et les technologies complexes qui fa\u00e7onnent l&rsquo;avenir. Diffus\u00e9 le 27 mars dernier, cet \u00e9pisode s&rsquo;intitule \u00ab Can Living Human Brain Cells Power AI ? \u00bb.<br><br>Cette vid\u00e9o de 30 minutes explore le monde de la bio-informatique, un domaine dont les scientifiques jettent tout juste les bases et qui pourrait bien brouiller les fronti\u00e8res entre le biologique et le synth\u00e9tique. Depuis 2015, l\u2019\u00e9quipe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/lcsb-en\/research-groups\/developmental-cellular-biology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Developmental &amp; Cellular Biology<\/a> travaille avec des organo\u00efdes c\u00e9r\u00e9braux, des cultures cellulaires en 3D, pour mod\u00e9liser les processus physiologiques et pathologiques dans le cerveau. En d\u00e9veloppant ces mod\u00e8les <em>in vitro<\/em> complexes qui r\u00e9capitulent autant que possible le fonctionnement du cerveau humain, les chercheurs souhaitent mieux comprendre la maladie de Parkinson et trouver de nouveaux moyens de traiter une maladie ayant un impact croissant sur notre soci\u00e9t\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si les processus neurod\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ratifs sont au c\u0153ur des travaux de l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe, celle-ci s&rsquo;aventure \u00e9galement dans le tout nouveau domaine mis en lumi\u00e8re par cet \u00e9pisode de la s\u00e9rie Primer : l&rsquo;intelligence organo\u00efde. Avec le projet COMPUTE, soutenu par la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fdlux.lu\/fondations\/fondation-du-pelican-de-mie-et-pierre-hippert-faber\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fondation du P\u00e9lican de Mie et Pierre Hippert-Faber<\/a>, les chercheurs du LCSB veulent exploiter la puissance de calcul des neurones et du tissu c\u00e9r\u00e9bral. Ils utiliseront l&rsquo;expertise du LCSB en mati\u00e8re de cultures cellulaires 3D pour mettre au point une sorte de processeur \u00e0 base d\u2019organo\u00efdes c\u00e9r\u00e9braux, eux-m\u00eames obtenus \u00e0 partir de cellules souches.<br><br>\u00ab Selon une publication scientifique r\u00e9cente, un cerveau humain est un million de fois plus \u00e9conome en \u00e9nergie qu&rsquo;un ordinateur traditionnel, \u00bb souligne <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/lcsb-en\/people\/david-smeele\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David Smeele<\/a>, doctorant au sein du groupe Developmental &amp; Cellular Biology. \u00ab Compte tenu de l&rsquo;\u00e9norme consommation des ordinateurs actuels, l\u2019utilisation d\u2019organo\u00efdes c\u00e9r\u00e9braux pourraient changer la donne en fournissant des technologies plus respectueuses de l&rsquo;environnement et ayant des performances similaires voire sup\u00e9rieures.\u00a0\u00bb Ainsi, notre avenir pourrait un jour inclure une nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de bio-ordinateurs alliant les avantages de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectronique, de l&rsquo;intelligence artificielle et les capacit\u00e9s de calcul exceptionnelles du
