On the 17th<\/sup> of May, some fifty people gathered at the University of Luxembourg (campus Limpertsberg) to learn more about dementia research and prevention in Luxembourg.<\/p>

Opened to the medical community and healthcare providers in Luxembourg, the seminar titled \u201cDemenzfoschung und Pr\u00e4vention in Luxembourg\u201d<\/i> \u00a0hosted several renowned researchers: Prof. Dr. Elke Kalbe from the University Clinic Cologne, Prof. Dr. Tobias Hartmann from Saarland University, Associate Prof. Sebastian K\u00f6hler from Maastricht University, Prof. Dr. med. Richard Dodel from the University Clinic Marburg and Prof. Dr. Rejko Kr\u00fcger from the University of Luxembourg.<\/p>

The speakers presented recent scientific findings on dementia prevention and they particularly focused on new results about cognitive training in Parkinson\u2019s disease and recent developments in the therapeutic trials and interventions on primary and secondary prevention for Alzheimer\u2019s disease. Special attention was also given to dementia prevention programmes implemented in the Netherlands and in Luxembourg.<\/p>

In particular, Prof. Rejko Kr\u00fcger presented the Dementia Prevention Programme (pdp<\/i>), a project of the Luxembourgish Ministry of Health coordinated by the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) of the University of Luxembourg. The pdp<\/i> specifically targets people with mild cognitive impairment and aims, through personalized measures, at preventing and delay dementia, presenting new ways to remain mentally fit.<\/p>

After several discussions and interesting exchanges between the public and the speakers, the seminar ended with a small reception where participants had the opportunity to network.<\/p>
