This past summer, 13 interns spent two months on Campus Belval to participate in a project mixing biology and computer science. The small group composed of high-school students as well as Bachelor and Master students, worked with the Systems Biochemistry research group of the LSCB to put together and develop the MitoMap. What is the MitoMap? An interactive map depicting the chemical reactions – more than 1000 – taking place inside mitochondria, the power-houses of the human cells!<\/p>

<\/p>

The hard work of these budding researchers has paid off, allowing to complete this innovative tool and more than 1600 chemical reactions now represented on the map. The MitoCarte will soon be published online, accessible for the whole scientific community to facilitate further research on neurodegenerative disorders.<\/p>

Last Wednesday, the high-school and university students who participated in the project had the opportunity to present the result of their work with the researchers who supervised them and to discover the video that was shot this summer.
