This week, Prof. Paul Wilmes was invited by the Rotary Club Esch-Bassin Minier to present his research and receive a financial boost for the work of this group. Following his talk on the role of microbiome-derived amyloidogenic proteins in triggering human protein aggregation associated with neurodegenerative diseases, the Rotary Club presented him with a cheque for \u20ac2,500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This contribution adds to the \u20ac25,000 already raised for the project through the national Espoir-en-T\u00eate event organised by Rotary Clubs across Luxembourg. The funds will support further research into how microbial proteins affect neurodegenerative diseases, potentially leading to new therapeutic breakthroughs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I am very grateful for the support of the Rotary Club Esch-Bassin Minier,” said Prof. Wilmes. “Such support is a very nice recognition of our work but it is also really essential for the advancement of scientific discovery.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rotary Club reaffirmed its commitment to supporting innovative research with real-world impact, and emphasised the importance of collaboration between the scientific community and local organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n
