This also includes seeing how research is done in the laboratories. Prof. Paul Wilmes, principal investigator at the LCSB, who had participated in the 1<sup>st<\/sup> edition of the pairing scheme, welcomed the group of visitors in the Biotech 1 building and gave an overview of the strategy and activities of the University of Luxembourg and the LCSB.<\/p><p>The MPs then had the chance to visit his laboratory and learn about the use of HuMiX, a gut-on-a-chip model, in colon cancer research. The group had recently discovered that a <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwen.uni.lu\/lcsb\/news_events\/right_combination_of_diet_and_bacteria_limits_cancer_progression\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">certain combination of diet and microbes has an inhibitory effect on cancer progression<\/a>.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-dev4-reusable-blocks-image  object-fit--contain\">\n    \n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-block-image unilux-custom-image-block\"\n                alt=\"\"\n            src=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/07\/image00033_2.jpg\"\n                srcset=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/07\/image00033_2-300x164.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/07\/image00033_2-768x419.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2023\/07\/image00033_2.jpg 1024w\"\n                style=\"object-position: 50.00% 50.00%; font-family: &quot;object-fit: contain; object-position: 50.00% 50.00%;&quot;; aspect-ratio: 16\/9; object-fit: contain; width: 100%;\"\n        loading=\"lazy\"\n\/>    <\/figure><p><\/p><p>In a next step, researchers will get to discover how the Luxembourg parliamentary system works and what the daily life of an MP looks like. \u201cEvidence matters in political decision making.
