Research and Development Specialist
In detail
After completing her undergraduate studies in Neurosciences at Amity University, Noida, India, Khushbu Bhalla obtained a Master degree in Neurosciences at the University of Bonn, Germany. Within the scope of her master’s research, she concentrated on understanding the function of CD33 in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) through diverse paradigms. In 2023, she joined the Neuroinflammation group at the LCSB in the role of Research and Development Specialist. She is currently dedicated to understanding changes in microglial morphology and amyloid pathology in AD using both human CD33 and mouse CD33 models. Despite significant advancements in the functional characterisation of CD33 in AD, research has yet to elucidate for instance the precise signalling pathways and molecular interactions involving CD33 in microglial activation and neuroinflammation. In her free time, Khushbu finds joy in immersing herself in books and crafting short stories/snippets/poems.
