Die am 27. M\u00e4rz ausgestrahlte Folge tr\u00e4gt den Titel &#8222;Can Living Human Brain Cells Power AI?\u201c<br><br>Das 30-min\u00fctige Video erkundet die Welt des Biocomputings \u2013 ein Bereich, in dem Wissenschaftler gerade erst die Grundlagen legen und der die Grenzen zwischen biologischen und synthetischen Systemen verwischen k\u00f6nnte. Seit 2015 arbeitet die <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/lcsb-en\/research-groups\/developmental-cellular-biology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Developmental &amp; Cellular Biology<\/a> Gruppe mit Hirnorganoiden aus 3D-Zellkulturen, um physiologische und pathologische Prozesse im Gehirn zu untersuchen. Durch die Entwicklung dieser komplexen <em>in vitro<\/em> Modelle, welche die Funktionsweise des menschlichen Gehirns so gut wie m\u00f6glich nachbilden, wollen die Forscher die Parkinson-Krankheit besser verstehen und neue Wege zur Behandlung dieser Krankheit finden, die immer gr\u00f6\u00dfere Auswirkungen auf unsere Gesellschaft hat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>W\u00e4hrend neurodegenerative Prozesse im Mittelpunkt der Arbeit des Teams stehen, wagen sie sich auch in ein v\u00f6llig neues Gebiet, das in dieser Folge der <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/originals\/series\/primer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Primer<\/a> Reihe vorgestellt wird: Organoide Intelligenz. Mit dem Projekt COMPUTE, das von der <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fdlux.lu\/fondations\/fondation-du-pelican-de-mie-et-pierre-hippert-faber\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fondation du P\u00e9lican de Mie und Pierre Hippert-Faber<\/a> unterst\u00fctzt wird, wollen die Forscher des LCSB die Rechenleistung von Neuronen und Hirngewebe nutzen. Sie werden das Know-how des LCSB auf dem Gebiet der 3D-Zellkulturen nutzen, um einen biologischen Prozessor auf der Grundlage von Hirnorganoiden zu entwickeln, die wiederum aus Stammzellen gewonnen werden.<br><br>\u201eLaut einer k\u00fcrzlich erschienenen wissenschaftlichen Ver\u00f6ffentlichung ist das menschliche Gehirn eine Million Mal energieeffizienter als ein herk\u00f6mmlicher Computer\u201c, betont <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/lcsb-en\/people\/david-smeele\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David Smeele<\/a>, Doktorand in der Developmental &amp; Cellular Biology Gruppe. &#8222;Angesichts des enormen Energiebedarfs heutiger Computer k\u00f6nnte der Einsatz von Hirnorganoiden einen entscheidenden Wendepunkt auf dem Weg zu umweltfreundlicheren Technologien mit vergleichbarer oder sogar besserer Rechenleistung darstellen. In Zukunft k\u00f6nnte also eines Tages eine neue Generation von Biocomputern entstehen, die die Vorteile von Elektronik, k\u00fcnstlichen Intelligenz und der au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnliche Rechenleistung
