The Centre is particularly keen on supporting early career scholars who may benefit from the LCEL\u2019s research environment, be it to conclude a manuscript, a PhD thesis, or an article, or refine the first ideas of a research project. The LCEL will provide access to exchanges with international colleagues working in areas related to the visitors\u2019 fields of research, to library resources, and proximity to the EU institutions located in Luxembourg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If funding from the host institution is not available, the LCEL offers a limited number of scholarships to facilitate research stays at the Centre for one to two months between September and December 2026. The scholarship includes a monthly allowance of up to \u20ac1,800 as reimbursement for daily expenses. In exceptional cases, and upon request, accommodation costs may also be reimbursed, up to a maximum of \u20ac1,200 for one month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-quick-link-highlight quick-link-list\">\n<li class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-quick-link-highlight-item\">\n    <a\n                    href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/lcel-en\/research\/\"\n                    class=\"quick-link\"\n            target=\"_blank\"\n    >\n            <span class=\"quick-link__container\">\n                <span class=\"quick-link__body\">\n                    <span class=\"quick-link__number\">\n                        Research scope at the LCEL                    <\/span>\n                    <span class=\"quick-link__title\">\n                        <br>The primary focus of the Centre is the law of the European Union. The development of EU integration and the legal system which underpins it have provided a fruitful ground, indeed an inexhaustive mine, for research by law scholars and social scientists.                     <\/span>\n                    <span class=\"quick-link__action\">\n                                            <\/span>\n                <\/span>\n                <svg aria-hidden=\"true\" focusable=\"false\" class=\"icon icon-outline icon--external-link \"><use xlink:href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/themes\/unilux-theme\/assets\/images\/icons\/icons-outline.svg#icon--external-link\"><\/use><\/svg>            <\/span>\n    <\/a>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"1-eligibility\"\n    >\n1. Eligibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To be considered for the programme, applicants must be early career researchers (advanced PhD candidates, post-doctoral researchers, assistant professors or equivalent) working in the law of the European Union, which is the Centre\u2019s primary focus. The Centre\u2019s remit is a broad one, gravitating around the development of EU integration and the legal system and national laws relation to EU law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We particularly favour applications in the following areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"ulux-list\">\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">EU constitutional law, judicial protection, and governance;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">Geopolitics and the EU\u2019s external relations, including CFSP, trade, and external dimensions of the internal market;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">Nature and sustainability;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">Regulation of digital markets and artificial intelligence;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) and financial regulation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Post-doctoral researchers and assistant professors or equivalent are expected to demonstrate a solid research track-record.<br>Proficiency in English is compulsory, but the call is open to early career scholars writing their work in languages other than English.<br>Scholars based in Luxembourg are not eligible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"2-application\"\n    >\n2. Application<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply, interested candidates meeting the requirements of the call must submit the following documents, in English:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"ulux-list\">\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">a cover letter (max. 1 page), stating the motivation for their application, the correlation between the topic of their research and the Centre\u2019s mission, and the desired time frame for the scholarship stay (between September and December 2026);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">an up-to-date curriculum vitae, including publications;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">a summary of the research project to be undertaken at the Centre (max. 2 pages), including subject, description and work plan;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">two letters of recommendation (for PhD researchers, one of the letters must be from their supervisor);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">where applicable, a letter from the institution of origin declaring lack of funding for the research stay;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">post-doctoral researchers and assistant professors or equivalent must include a copy of one of their publications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"3-fellowship-benefits\"\n    >\n3. Visitors activities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitors are expected to participate in the activities of the Centre and to present their work at an LCEL Guest Forum. In the case of longer research stays, and in line with the Centre\u2019s mission to foster high-level research, visitors are also expected to produce a substantial and publishable scholarly contribution arising from their stay and to contribute to the Centre\u2019s research paper series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The presence of funded visitors at the Centre during the funding period is compulsory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"5-deadline-and-application-process\"\n    >\n5.
