This involves a shift of competence from national levels to the European level, with the aim to unify and harmonise rules on jurisdiction, applicable law, and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lecture will provide insight into the enormous influence the EU has had on private international law. It will discuss the EU regulations already in place as well as current and future developments. On behalf of the Ministry, Laura takes part in the working group on Parentage\/Surrogacy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hcch.net\/en\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hague Conference on Private International Law<\/a> and in the EU Council Working Party on Parenthood. In addition, she is engaged in the preparations of a possible recast of the Rome II and Brussels Ia Regulations. Laura is also deputy judge at The Hague Court of Appeal.<br>Previously, Laura was Assistant Professor at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eur.nl\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Erasmus University Rotterdam<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universiteitleiden.nl\/en\">Leiden University<\/a>.
