Each year the high-level meeting provides an opportunity to discuss health agendas and joint activities, and to leverage small countries\u2019 common needs at regional and international levels.<\/p><p>Established in 2013, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/europe\/initiatives\/small-countries-initiative\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">WHO\/Europe\u00a0Small Countries Initiative (SCI)<\/a> is a platform through which 11 countries in the Region with populations of two million or less work together to share their experiences and achieve their common health objectives. The countries in the SCI are: Andorra, Cyprus, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, San Marino and Slovenia.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-dev4-reusable-blocks-image  object-fit--contain\">\n    \n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-block-image unilux-custom-image-block\"\n                alt=\"\"\n            src=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2023\/07\/meeting_ind_2023.jpg\"\n                srcset=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2023\/07\/meeting_ind_2023-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2023\/07\/meeting_ind_2023.jpg 500w\"\n                style=\"object-position: 50.00% 50.00%; font-family: &quot;object-fit: contain; object-position: 50.00% 50.00%;&quot;; aspect-ratio: 3\/2; object-fit: contain; width: 100%;\"\n        loading=\"lazy\"\n\/>    <\/figure><strong>From left: Margrieta Langins, Marie Friedel, Paulette Lenert, Hans Kluge and Anne-Marie Hanff\u00a0\u00a9 SIP\/ Julien Warnand\u00a0<\/strong><p><strong>Growing and recognised efforts <\/strong><\/p><p>To celebrate the International Nurses Day, <a href=\"https:\/\/gouvernement.lu\/en\/gouvernement\/lenert-paulette.html\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Paulette Lenert<\/a>, Minister of Health; <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/recherche\/fstm\/dlsm\/people\/marie_friedel\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Marie Friedel<\/a>, Professor and Course Director in Nursing Sciences; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/annemariehanff\/?originalSubdomain=lu\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Anne-Marie Hanff<\/a>, President of the National Nursing Association in Luxembourg (ANIL) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/europe\/about-us\/about-who-europe\/regional-director\/dr-kluge-biography\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Hans Henri Kluge<\/a>, World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for Europe shared their viewpoints during a panel discussion moderated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/margrieta-langins-16921a34\/recent-activity\/articles\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Margrieta Langins<\/a>, Nursing and Midwifery Adviser at WHO.<\/p><p>Paulette Lenert insisted on the huge work done in terms of education with the creation of new Bachelors in Nursing Sciences starting in September 2023. \u201cThis is a great step for Luxembourg and it will attract motivated people\u201d. She also mentioned the promotion campaign launched recently to better explain the different aspects of the jobs as for instance attributions and technologies are changing.<\/p><p>Marie Friedel presented the new Bachelor programmes in Nursing Sciences which are currently developed at the University of Luxembourg. \u201cThese new high-level academic programmes will empower the nursing profession by providing students with the necessary skills to practice as a bedside nurse or continue their studies.
