Ces particules naturelles pourraient remplacer les microplastiques actuellement pr\u00e9sents dans une large gamme de produits de consommation et d&rsquo;applications industrielles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ces recherches, men\u00e9es par le <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/research-departments\/department-of-physics-materials-science\/\">Department of Physics and Material Sciences (DPHYMS)<\/a>, ouvrent une voie prometteuse pour des solutions \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle industrielle. Le groupe de recherche <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/research-groups\/physics-of-living-matter\/\">Physics of Living Matter<\/a>, dirig\u00e9 par prof Anupam Sengupta, exploite pleinement le potentiel des microbes.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-spacer is-spacer-size-sm\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"repenser-les-produits-du-quotidien-le-probleme-cache-des-microplastiques\"\n    >\n<strong>Repenser les produits du quotidien : le probl\u00e8me cach\u00e9 des microplastiques<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Les microplastiques sont un probl\u00e8me environnemental omnipr\u00e9sent, cach\u00e9 dans les produits \u00e0 usage quotidien, tels que les peintures (jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 38 % de micro-additifs), les cosm\u00e9tiques (jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 10 %) encore des pneus (jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 15 %). Ces minuscules particules de plastique sont ajout\u00e9es pour obtenir certaines propri\u00e9t\u00e9s, comme la texture ou la finition, en jouant le r\u00f4le de charges ou d\u2019abrasifs. Leur impact environnemental sur les humains, les animaux et la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation est important, en particulier \u00e0 long terme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le laboratoire interdisciplinaire op\u00e8re \u00e0 la crois\u00e9e de la physique, de la biologie, de l&rsquo;ing\u00e9nierie et de l&rsquo;apprentissage automatique. Les chercheurs \u00e9tudient la mani\u00e8re dont les micro-organismes r\u00e9agissent et s&rsquo;adaptent aux changements de leur environnement. Ils font souvent appel \u00e0 des techniques d&rsquo;imagerie avanc\u00e9es, utilisant des microscopes sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s et des cam\u00e9ras \u00e0 haute vitesse pour observer le comportement des microbes au niveau cellulaire et au niveau de la population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le projet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/research-projects\/%C2%B5bits\/\">\u00b5-BITS<\/a>, une initiative financ\u00e9e par le FNR Jump, a d\u00e9but\u00e9 par une \u00e9tude sur l&rsquo;interaction entre les bact\u00e9ries et les microplastiques dans l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an. Cette recherche motiv\u00e9e par la curiosit\u00e9 a conduit \u00e0 une d\u00e9couverte inattendue et importante : certains micro-organismes produisent de minuscules particules min\u00e9rales (biomin\u00e9raux) en r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sence de microplastiques. Ce qui distingue la technologie \u00b5-BITS, c&rsquo;est la capacit\u00e9 du laboratoire \u00e0 ajuster avec pr\u00e9cision les propri\u00e9t\u00e9s de ces biomin\u00e9raux, en contr\u00f4lant leur forme, leur taille et leur rugosit\u00e9. Ce r\u00e9glage est essentiel, car diff\u00e9rentes applications industrielles requi\u00e8rent des caract\u00e9ristiques sp\u00e9cifiques pour les particules. Par exemple, la modification de la surface peut d\u00e9terminer si une peinture aura un fini brillant ou mat. En comprenant et en contr\u00f4lant les processus biophysiques, le laboratoire peut adapter les biomin\u00e9raux \u00e0 divers usages dans les peintures, les cosm\u00e9tiques, les lessives en poudre, les dentifrices, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-spacer is-spacer-size-sm\"><\/div>\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-quote-people\">\n    <div class=\"quote-people\" role=\"group\">\n        <figure class=\"quote-people__body\">\n            <blockquote class=\"quote-people__blockquote\">\n    <span class=\"quote-people__quote\">\u201f<\/span>\n     La nature a d\u00e9j\u00e0 r\u00e9solu bon nombre de nos probl\u00e8mes les plus complexes. Il nous suffit d&rsquo;observer, d&rsquo;exploiter et d&rsquo;adapter ces solutions aux processus industriels. Les premiers essais avec des applications de peinture ont donn\u00e9 des r\u00e9sultats prometteurs. Afin de r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 la demande industrielle future, le laboratoire s&#8217;emploie activement \u00e0 passer de la production \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle du laboratoire \u00e0 celle \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle industrielle, en utilisant des bior\u00e9acteurs, et une nouvelle augmentation de la production est en cours.
