Si les fils indiquaient aux utilisateurs \u00e0 quel point ils sont \u00e9tir\u00e9s, par exemple pour une suture parfaite lors d\u2019une intervention chirurgicale ? Si les filtres pouvaient se nettoyer eux-m\u00eames dans les usines ?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trois chercheurs de renom, Prof. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/people\/jan-lagerwall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jan Lagerwall<\/a> de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 du Luxembourg, Prof. <a href=\"https:\/\/novaresearch.unl.pt\/en\/persons\/maria-helena-godinho\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maria Helena Godinho<\/a> de la NOVA School of Science &amp; Technology et Prof. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phy.cam.ac.uk\/directory\/terentjeve\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Eugene Terentjev<\/a> de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 de Cambridge, ont re\u00e7u un financement de 8,4 millions d&rsquo;euros du Conseil Europ\u00e9en de la Recherche (CER) pour cr\u00e9er et \u00e9tudier des \u00e9lastom\u00e8res cristaux liquides (LCE) d&rsquo;un nouveau type qui permettent de telles fonctionnalit\u00e9s. Les nouveaux LCE sont issus de polysaccharides extraits de sources biologiques comme la cellulose, ils seront recyclables ou d\u00e9gradables selon les besoins, et ils sont tr\u00e8s dynamiques. Ainsi, ils peuvent changer de couleur, de forme, de rigidit\u00e9 ou de propri\u00e9t\u00e9s d&rsquo;amortissement en r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 des stimuli comme la chaleur, la lumi\u00e8re, l&rsquo;humidit\u00e9 ou la d\u00e9formation. Ils peuvent ainsi remplir de multiples fonctions, dans des contextes tr\u00e8s divers. Le projet \u00e9tudiera \u00e9galement de nouvelles m\u00e9thodes de traitement des pr\u00e9curseurs des LCE qui ont un potentiel pour une mise \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle industrielle.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En bouleversant de multiples fa\u00e7ons le paradigme conventionnel de la fabrication des LCE, le projet veillera \u00e0 ce que les nouveaux mat\u00e9riaux soient respectueux de l&rsquo;environnement, rentables et pr\u00eats pour une production \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle. Gr\u00e2ce au projet intitul\u00e9 \u00ab \u00c9lastom\u00e8res \u00e0 cristaux liquides atypiques : de l&rsquo;innovation des mat\u00e9riaux au traitement \u00e9volutif et aux applications transformatrices \u00bb (ALCEMIST), les trois chercheurs lib\u00e9reront ainsi tout le potentiel des LCE.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"lincroyable-potentiel-des-elastomeres-a-cristaux-liquides\"\n    >\n<strong>L&rsquo;incroyable potentiel des \u00e9lastom\u00e8res \u00e0 cristaux liquides<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Les \u00e9lastom\u00e8res \u00e0 cristaux liquides sont des caoutchoucs qui s&rsquo;\u00e9tendent et se contractent d&rsquo;eux-m\u00eames. Comme les caoutchoucs classiques, ils peuvent effectuer un travail m\u00e9canique, mais ils n&rsquo;ont pas besoin d&rsquo;une force impos\u00e9e de l&rsquo;ext\u00e9rieur pour les charger. En modifiant ces substances, comme la cellulose des plantes ou la chitine extraite des d\u00e9chets de fruits de mer, tout le monde peut cr\u00e9er des \u00e9lastom\u00e8res \u00e0 cristaux liquides r\u00e9sistants, sans danger pour le corps et biod\u00e9gradables, \u00e0 une fraction du co\u00fbt actuel \u00bb, explique Prof. Godinho.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Terentjev a r\u00e9cemment d\u00e9couvert une autre application des LCE : la fabrication d&rsquo;adh\u00e9sifs r\u00e9versibles, qui peuvent \u00eatre activ\u00e9s ou d\u00e9sactiv\u00e9s \u00e0 la demande. Ce proc\u00e9d\u00e9 pr\u00e9sente un \u00e9norme potentiel pour l&rsquo;\u00e9conomie circulaire, car il permettra de recycler facilement les produits de consommation coll\u00e9s, comme des t\u00e9l\u00e9phones portables ou des&nbsp;pare-brises des voitures. L&rsquo;un des principaux objectifs d&rsquo;ALCEMIST en mati\u00e8re d&rsquo;applications est de d\u00e9velopper ce concept, depuis les premi\u00e8res d\u00e9monstrations actuelles du ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne jusqu&rsquo;aux mat\u00e9riaux pr\u00eats \u00e0 \u00eatre mis \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle industrielle.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"premiere-subvention-synergie-du-cer-au-luxembourg\"\n    >\n<strong>Premi\u00e8re subvention Synergie du CER au Luxembourg<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>C&rsquo;est la premi\u00e8re fois que le Luxembourg re\u00e7oit une<a href=\"https:\/\/erc.europa.eu\/apply-grant\/synergy-grant\"> bourse ERC Synergy<\/a>, et l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 agit en tant que coordinateur. Le projet ALCEMIST d\u00e9butera en 2025 et durera six ans. La bourse Synergie soutient des scientifiques multidisciplinaires exceptionnels qui unissent leurs forces pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 des questions majeures auxquelles un seul chercheur ne peut r\u00e9pondre.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Lagerwall est tr\u00e8s enthousiaste \u00e0 propos de ce projet : \u00ab Si les LCE ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couverts en Europe, tant sur le plan
