Cette technologie, bas\u00e9e sur la conversion de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie solaire &#8211; les photons &#8211; en \u00e9nergie \u00e9lectrique, voit ses performances \u00e9voluer rapidement. Un assistant-postdoctorant de l&rsquo;Uni entend les am\u00e9liorer encore gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une structure r\u00e9volutionnaire d\u00e9di\u00e9e aux cellules solaires \u00e0 fine couche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Celles-ci pr\u00e9sentent actuellement un d\u00e9faut : les \u00e9lectrons g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9s par la lumi\u00e8re se perdent \u00e0 la surface du m\u00e9tal. Si les fabricants ont r\u00e9solu l&rsquo;\u00e9quation pour les cellules solaires classiques en pla\u00e7ant une couche d&rsquo;oxyde perfor\u00e9e entre la partie active de la cellule solaire et le contact m\u00e9tallique, le probl\u00e8me restait entier pour les cellules solaires \u00e0 fine couche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"partenariat-prometteur\"\n    >\nPartenariat prometteur<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/people\/taowen-wang\/\">Taowen Wang<\/a>, en collaboration avec l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe du LPV et une \u00e9quipe du LIST, a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une structure qui \u00e9loigne les \u00e9lectrons du contact m\u00e9tallique tout en permettant le passage du courant \u00e9lectrique. L\u2019assistant-postdoctorant a r\u00e9cemment publi\u00e9 <a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1002\/solr.202400212\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">les r\u00e9sultats de ce travail<\/a> dans le cadre d&rsquo;un projet PRIDE du FNR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab Cette avanc\u00e9e change la donne pour les cellules solaires \u00e0 fine couche, en particulier pour les cellules solaires CIGS, car elle permet de r\u00e9duire l&rsquo;\u00e9paisseur de la couche de CIGS sans perdre en efficacit\u00e9 de conversion de puissance, ce qui r\u00e9duit les co\u00fbts de production \u00bb, confirme le chercheur de l&rsquo;Uni, qui poursuit ses travaux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La nouvelle structure d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e a d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 brevet\u00e9e et Taowen concentre actuellement son \u00e9nergie sur la finalisation des r\u00e9sultats. Il s&rsquo;agit probablement de la derni\u00e8re \u00e9tape avant la recherche d&rsquo;un partenaire industriel. \u00ab Il serait vraiment int\u00e9ressant de pouvoir collaborer avec une entreprise sur cette technologie \u00bb, confirme Taowen Wang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le chercheur travaille actuellement sur un deuxi\u00e8me article scientifique consacr\u00e9 aux r\u00e9sultats de ses travaux. Dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 en physique des mat\u00e9riaux, il se d\u00e9crit comme un mordu de recherche. Quant au photovolta\u00efque, \u00ab c&rsquo;est une r\u00e9ponse aux d\u00e9fis \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques qui peuvent \u00eatre relev\u00e9s avec des solutions \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle \u00bb, explique-t-il.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"une-publication-a-impact\"\n    >\nUne publication \u00e0 impact<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Le <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/research-groups\/laboratory-for-photovoltaics\/\">Laboratory for Photovoltaics<\/a> a \u00e9t\u00e9 lanc\u00e9 en 2007 \u00e0 l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 du Luxembourg. Il regroupe 14 personnes impliqu\u00e9es dans la recherche sur cette source d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie et ses limites. L&rsquo;une de ses priorit\u00e9s de recherche est la compr\u00e9hension de la technologie. D&rsquo;ailleurs, l&rsquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/full\/10.1002\/pip.3449\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">article<\/a> \u00ab How band tail recombination influences the open-circuit voltage of solar cells \u00bb publi\u00e9 dans \u00ab Progress in Photovoltaics \u00bb a \u00e9t\u00e9 class\u00e9 comme la 8e publication la plus cit\u00e9e dans ce journal entre 2021 et 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab Faire partie des 10 articles les plus cit\u00e9s dans la revue photovolta\u00efque la plus r\u00e9put\u00e9e me rend fi\u00e8re et heureuse \u00bb, a comment\u00e9 le professeur <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/people\/susanne-siebentritt\/\">Susanne Siebentritt<\/a>, Head of Laboratory for Photovoltaics, qui a initi\u00e9 cette recherche \u00e0 l&rsquo;Uni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L&rsquo;enjeu est de taille. Selon les donn\u00e9es d&rsquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Renewable_energy_statistics&amp;action=statexp-seat&amp;lang=fr#Le_vent_et_l.E2.80.99eau_fournissent_la_plupart_de_l.E2.80.99.C3.A9lectricit.C3.A9_renouvelable.3B_L.E2.80.99.C3.A9nergie_solaire_est_la_source_d.E2.80.99.C3.A9nergie_.C3.A0_la_croissance_la_plus_rapide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Eurostat<\/a>, le photovolta\u00efque sera le secteur qui conna\u00eetra la plus forte croissance en 2022. Cependant, avec une part de 18,2 % dans l&rsquo;UE, derri\u00e8re l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie \u00e9olienne (37,5 %) et l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie hydraulique (29,9 %) en tant que sources d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie
