The third meeting \u201cResearch: innovation and construction\u201d organised by the University of Luxembourg, OAI, Neobuild, LIST, Luxinnovation and CNCD gathered more than\u00a0200 participants from academia and industry on 26 February 2019 in the Chambre des M\u00e9tiers.<\/p>

The event was introduced by Pierre Hurt<\/strong>,\u00a0Jos Dell <\/strong>and\u00a0Marc Feider<\/strong>, respectively Director, President and Vice-President of the Ordre des Architectes et Ing\u00e9nieurs-Conseils (OAI<\/a>). They underlined the growing success of this event, the importance of academic research to find the best solutions and the initiative of the Conseil National de la Construction Durable (CNCD<\/a>) to promote sustainable construction in Luxembourg.<\/p>

Claude Turmes<\/strong>, Minister for Energy and urban planning, presented ways to make sustainable development a success and how to combine energy, well-being and circularity with the aim to replace \u201cindoor pollution\u201d by \u201cindoor well feeling\u201d.<\/p>

Then, architects and researchers exchanged on the different challenges in the construction sector. Three engineers from the Research Unit in Engineering Sciences (RUES<\/a>) presented their current research projects.<\/p>

Dani\u00e8le Waldmann<\/a>, Professor and Head of the Laboratory of Solid Structures, focused on novel concrete mixtures with determination of material properties as well as on research of new concepts and load bearing structures for application in structural engineering and multiscale models for numerical simulations of the material concrete.<\/p>

Michael Scheuern<\/a>, Professor in construction management, highlighted the increasing importance of building information modelling to use virtual models for all phases of construction project.<\/p>

\n \n\"\"\n <\/figure>

Dolgion Erdenebat<\/a>, PhD student of Professor Waldmann, presented his project \u201cCondition assessment of bridge structures by analytical and numerical methods\u201d which offers an innovative method to locate damage in the load-bearing structure of bridges.<\/p>

The meeting \u201cResearch: innovation and construction\u201d started in 2017 on the initiative of Prof. Dani\u00e8le Waldmann from the University of Luxembourg together with OAI in order to facilitate exchanges between academia and industry in the building sector at national level.\u00a0The next edition will take place on 2 March 2020.<\/p>
