Researchers, image analysists, microscopists, software developers and industrial partners from all over the world discussed the recent scientific developments and open tools in bioimage analysis.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-dev4-reusable-blocks-image  object-fit--contain\">\n    \n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-block-image unilux-custom-image-block\"\n                alt=\"\"\n            src=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2023\/07\/neubias.jpg\"\n                srcset=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2023\/07\/neubias-300x87.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2023\/07\/neubias.jpg 500w\"\n                style=\"object-position: 50.00% 50.00%; font-family: &quot;object-fit: contain; object-position: 50.00% 50.00%;&quot;; aspect-ratio: 32\/9; object-fit: contain; width: 100%;\"\n        loading=\"lazy\"\n\/>    <\/figure><p>Successful <strong>image-based life science<\/strong> research relies on the tight interplay of <strong>experimental data acquisition<\/strong>, <strong>data handling<\/strong> and their <strong>analysis &#038; interpretation<\/strong>. Only if all disciplines are working hand-in-hand, a synergistic effect can be expected. The Network of European Bioimage Analysts NEUBIAS offers a <strong>unique platform<\/strong> to <strong>facilitate collaborations across diverse disciplines <\/strong>ranging from image acquisition to interpretation and quantitative treatment.<\/p><p>This year, NEUBIAS offered the attendees a rich and various programme with <strong>two parallel training schools <\/strong>for selected early career and advanced analysts, a <strong>working meeting<\/strong> <strong>\u201cTaggathon\u201d<\/strong> for invited taggers and a <strong>large symposium<\/strong> for academic and industrial stakeholders. The training schools and Taggathon took place at the University of Luxembourg on Belval Campus while the symposium was hosted at the Neum\u00fcnster Abbey in Luxembourg city.<\/p><p>The symposium enabled to address new trends in bioimage analysis ranging from imaging technologies and applications to machine learning, data mining and data storage. As keynote speakers, Prof. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpi-cbg.de\/research-groups\/current-groups\/ivo-sbalzarini\/group-leader\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Ivo Sbalzarini<\/a> from TU Dresden, Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcl.ac.uk\/lsm\/research\/divisions\/randall\/research\/sections\/cell\/cox\/coxsusan.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Susan Cox<\/a> from King&rsquo;s College London and Dr. <a href=\"https:\/\/directory.engr.wisc.edu\/bme\/faculty\/eliceiri_kevin\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Kevin Eliceiri<\/a> from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, shared their expertise with the audience.<\/p><p>The event was organised by researchers <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/recherche\/fstc\/life_sciences_research_unit\/people\/andreas_girod\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Andreas Girod<\/a> from the Life Sciences Research Unit (<a href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/recherche\/fstc\/life_sciences_research_unit\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">LSRU<\/a>) and <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/lcsb\/people\/aymeric_fouquier_d_herouel\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Aymeric Fouquier d\u2019H\u00e9rou\u00ebl<\/a> from the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (<a href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/lcsb\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">LCSB<\/a>) at the University of Luxembourg.<\/p><p>NEUBIAS 2019 was funded by the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cost.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">COST<\/a>) under the Action CA15124 and by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fnr.lu\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">FNR<\/a>).
