The International Conference on Malliavin Calculus and Related Topics (ICMCRT) which took place on Belval campus from 12 to 16 June 2023 gathered more than 80 participants from around the world.
Young and experienced researchers in stochastic analysis had the opportunity to learn from each other. It was also a great occasion to celebrate the prolific careers of Prof. David Nualart and Prof. Anton Thalmaier.
The intense week was introduced by Prof. Simone Niclou, Vice-rector for Research at the University of Luxembourg and by Prof. Jean-Marc Schlenker, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine. They underlined the development of the Department in Mathematics which has succeeded in a few years to position the University of Luxembourg as a major research player in algebra, geometry, probability and more recently in statistics.
The scientific programme consisted in more than 20 talks by invited speakers from Canada, France, Germany, Ukraine, Mexico, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, United States. Among them, the participants had the honour to attend a talk by Prof. Martin Hairer who was awarded the Fields Medal in 2014, considered as the Nobel Prize of Mathematics. In addition, young researchers could present their work through poster sessions and receive advise from their peers.
Throughout the week, participants were also able to take part in social and cultural activities to discover Luxembourg and Belval.
