To support their research in the field of biomedicine, the Fondation du P\u00e9lican de Mie et Pierre Hippert-Faber have recently awarded seven doctoral students affiliated with the Programme in Systems and Molecular Biomedicine at the University of Luxembourg. Thanks to this support, they will be able to carry out additional experiments, participate in conferences and workshops or plan short-term stays abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doctorate Thesis: \u201cCharacterizing energetics of cell fate dynamics\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use of the grant: Carmen will participate in Society for Neuroscience conference in Washington and spend five months at the University of California.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Use of the grant: Julia will spend three months at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Knoxville, Tennessee.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Najmesadat SEYEDKATOULI<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doctorate Thesis: \u201cModeling the cellular and organismal consequences of deficient metabolite repair\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use of the grant: Najmesadat will attend some courses at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg, spend two months at Murdoch Children\u2019s Research Institute in Australia and participate in the annual Zebrafish Disease Models Conference.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Use of the grant: Daniela will spend three months at Saarland University, participate in workshops and courses at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Use of the grant: Ziyun will spend three months at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Elisa ZUCCOLI<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doctorate Thesis: \u201cDevelopment of small molecule compounds targeting altered autophagy in Parkinson’s disease specific microglia\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use of the grant: Elisa will attend workshop on Microglia in health at the European Molecular Biology Organization, participate in the Keystone Symposia on Neurodegenerative Diseases in Santa Fe and the International Congress of Parkinson\u2019s Disease and Movement Disorders.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

About the Fondation du P\u00e9lican<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fondation du P\u00e9lican de Mie et Pierre Hippert-Faber was founded in 2010 by Pierre Hippert and is managed by the Fondation de Luxembourg. The foundation seeks to provide long-term support in the field of scientific and academic research, as well as in the area of the arts and letters. In particular, the foundation finances research projects at the University of Luxembourg by giving scholarships and\/or purchasing equipment in biomedicine in order to promote research activities in Luxembourg and develop the reputation of the University in this field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each year, the Fondation du P\u00e9lican awards a number of doctoral candidates affiliated with the programme in systems and molecular biomedicine of the Doctoral School in Science and Engineering (DSSE) at the University of Luxembourg. The Pelican grant can be used to finance their research. It can cover additional experiments, travel expenses to participate in conferences and training workshops, as well as short-term stays abroad as part of research collaborations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
