Each year, no more than one-half of one percent of the Society\u2019s membership is recognised by their peers for election to the status of Fellow of the American Physical Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among them, Prof. Adolfo del Campo was named for \u201chis pioneering contributions to the development of shortcuts to adiabaticity in many-body systems and the study of phase transition dynamics generalising the Kibble-Zurek mechanism\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the University of Luxembourg, Prof. del Campo leads the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/research-groups\/quantum-information-theory\/\">Quantum Information Theory Group<\/a> at the Department of Physics and Materials Science (DPhyMS), working at the interface of quantum information theory, statistical mechanics, and quantum control to explore foundations of physics and advance emergent quantum technologies. His contributions, acknowledged by the American Physical Society, have attracted the attention of the international community and are today used in academia and industry worldwide. For example, shortcuts to adiabaticity for complex systems are utilised in state-of-the-art quantum algorithms for quantum computation and quantum optimisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Together with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/en\/person\/NTAwMDk1OTZfX0FsZXhhbmRyZSBUS0FUQ0hFTktP\/\">Prof. Alexandre Tkatchenko<\/a> elected in 2019, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/en\/person\/NTAwMzU2MzRfX0pvcmdlIElOSUdVRVo=\/\">Prof. Jorge I\u00f1iguez<\/a> in 2022, Prof. Adolfo del Campo is the third scientist from the University of Luxembourg to receive the APS Fellowship. In addition, Prof. Del Campo is the first elected Fellow in the Division of Quantum Information in the country. This distinction reflects the recognition by the international community of the Department of Physics and Materials Science in this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI would like to congratulate Professor Adolfo del Campo for the prestigious nomination at the American Physical Society for his contribution in quantum information, a field that combines the principles of quantum mechanics with information science.
