{"id":43278,"date":"2025-11-05T09:54:31","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T08:54:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/?post_type=news&#038;p=43278"},"modified":"2025-11-05T10:01:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T09:01:08","slug":"visit-of-renowned-prof-nasser-khalili","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/news\/visit-of-renowned-prof-nasser-khalili\/","title":{"rendered":"Prof. Nasser Khalili shares his innovative research on viscoplastic model"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-free-section section\"><div class=\"container xl:max-w-screen-xl\">\n<p>The Computational Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering research group (<strong>COMPSOIL<\/strong>) at the <strong>University of Luxembourg<\/strong> recently hosted <strong>Scientia Professor Nasser Khalili<\/strong>, Head of School of Civil &amp; Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Director of the Australian Research Council (ARC) Research Hub for Resilient and Intelligent Infrastructure Systems (RIIS), and President of the Australian Association for Computational Mechanics (AACM). Within this one-week stay, our doctoral candidates had the exceptional opportunity to present their past and ongoing research works. Professor Khalili also delivered comprehensive presentations covering his research group&#8217;s latest developments. A highlight of the seminar was Professor Khalili&#8217;s presentation of an innovative viscoplastic model developed within the context of bounding surface plasticity. This sophisticated framework account for time-dependent deformation in geomaterials that enable simulation of all phases of drained and undrained creep in both over-consolidated (OC) and normally-consolidated (NC) soils within a single computational framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This visit represents COMPSOIL&#8217;s continued commitment to fostering international research excellence and providing our students with exposure to world-class expertise.
