More than 150 participants, comprising PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, professors, technical and administrative support staff as well as master students in physics joined this one-day workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-dev4-reusable-blocks-image  object-fit--contain\">\n    \n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-block-image unilux-custom-image-block\"\n                alt=\"\"\n            src=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2023\/07\/andreas.jpg\"\n                srcset=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/06\/MicrosoftTeams-image-12-300x235.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/06\/MicrosoftTeams-image-12-1024x801.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/06\/MicrosoftTeams-image-12-768x601.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/06\/MicrosoftTeams-image-12-1536x1201.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2023\/06\/MicrosoftTeams-image-12.jpg 1665w\"\n                style=\"object-position: 50.00% 50.00%; font-family: &quot;object-fit: contain; object-position: 50.00% 50.00%;&quot;; aspect-ratio: 4\/3; object-fit: contain; width: 100%;\"\n        loading=\"lazy\"\n\/>    <\/figure>\n\n\n<p>After a welcome speech by <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/recherche\/fstm\/dphyms\/people\/andreas_michels\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Prof. Andreas Michels<\/a>, Deputy Head of the <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/recherche\/fstm\/dphyms\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of&nbsp;Physics and Materials Science&nbsp;(DPhyMS)<\/a>, highlighting the department development, the day was organised into several sessions where members of each 19 research groups gave insightful talks (15 min long) about their group\u2019s research activities and fields of expertise, followed by Q&amp;A and discussion rounds.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-dev4-reusable-blocks-image  object-fit--contain\">\n    \n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-block-image unilux-custom-image-block\"\n                alt=\"\"\n            src=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2023\/07\/andreas_haller.jpg\"\n                    style=\"object-position: 50.00% 50.00%; font-family: &quot;object-fit: contain; object-position: 50.00% 50.00%;&quot;; aspect-ratio: 4\/3; object-fit: contain; width: 100%;\"\n        loading=\"lazy\"\n\/>    <\/figure>\n\n\n<p>This workshop was enriched by presentations from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"ulux-list\">\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/fstm\/organisation_chart\/research_facilitators\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">The FSTM Research Facilitators<\/a>, who presented their activities, their role at the faculty level and inform the Department about funding opportunities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/recherche\/fstm\/dphyms\/outreach_activities\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">The Scienteens lab in Physics<\/a>, which takes care of the outreach activities for younger students and internship within the department<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/fstm\/actualites\/launch_of_the_luxembourgish_eps_young_minds_team\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">The Luxembourgish EPS Young Minds team<\/a>, who presented the essence of the EPS Young Minds projects, the Luxembourgish\u2019s team and their future activities.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-dev4-reusable-blocks-image  object-fit--contain\">\n    \n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-block-image unilux-custom-image-block\"\n                alt=\"\"\n            src=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2023\/07\/funding_opportunities.jpg\"\n                    style=\"object-position: 50.00% 50.00%; font-family: &quot;object-fit: contain; object-position: 50.00% 50.00%;&quot;; aspect-ratio: 4\/3; object-fit: contain; width: 100%;\"\n        loading=\"lazy\"\n\/>    <\/figure>\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the last five years, DPhyMS has grown substantially and today our department is setting an example of interdisciplinary research.
