The STC is an advisory body established by the European Treaties in 1958. It delivers opinions on relevant nuclear technology related to scientific and technical issues, in particular, in relation to the Euratom research and training programmes. The members of the STC are the highest-level nuclear experts, appointed in a personal capacity by the Council of the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mandate of the previous committee ended in 2023, so many new members have joined the committee. On 25 and 26 March 2024, the constituent meeting of the newly formed committee took place. Stephan Leyer will contribute his expertise to the Nuclear Fission and Nuclear Fusion working groups. He is very much looking forward to work with the leading international experts in this field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stephan Leyer worked as Post Doc at the Max Planck Institute for Plasmaphysics in Garching for the ITER Fusion reactor project.
