On the 27th of March, the Nursing and Midwifery team launches the first online <\/strong>event of its IMPACT (Innovative Methodologies, Practice, and Advances in Clinical and Transnational nursing) conference series. The objective? Creating a platform for exchange of knowledge, research, and best practices in the field of clinical and transnational nursing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this first conference, Postdoctoral Researcher Jyoshma Preema D Souza<\/a> will address the subject of preventive healthcare, focusing on the factors contributing to individuals’ reluctance to engage with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nAbout the speaker<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Jyoshma Dsouza <\/a>is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Luxembourg and a former Postdoctoral Scientist at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), World Health Organization. Her work focuses on health behavior theories, the development of theoretical models to understand and promote disease prevention behaviour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Jyoshma Dsouza<\/a> worked on international projects, where she applied theoretical models to identify barriers to oral, breat and cervical cancer cancer screening uptake. She has contributed a chapter to the Handbook of Concepts in Health, Health Behavior and Environmental Health, published research in peer-reviewed journals, and presented at global platforms including IUHPE, IHLA, and IPVC. Dr. Dsouza has also served as a keynote speaker and expert panelist, recognized for her expertise in behavior systems research, implementation science, and applying theoretical models through mixed-methods approaches. Her research bridges theory, practice, and policy, translating evidence into culturally relevant public health and patient-centered interventions, along with educational strategies to promote preventive behaviours and improve health outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n
