Hydrogen is essential for decarbonizing various industries like steel manufacturing, aviation, and transportation. To meet the rising demand for hydrogen sustainably, a shift towards green hydrogen production, primarily through water electrolysis using renewable energy sources is necessary. However, transporting hydrogen globally is expensive, so it can be converted into a viable hydrogen carrier, which is ammonia. The reason behind using ammonia as a green hydrogen carrier is its long-established place and widespread use in the world as an agricultural fertilizer.The focus of the project is to develop a technology to efficiently separate hydrogen from the products of ammonia cracking using advanced membranes. Specifically, it aims to incorporate a kind of nanoporous material known as Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs), which are not utilized much for hydrogen purification, into a polymer and fabricate membranes. The project involves identifying suitable COFs for hydrogen purification and membrane synthesis, evaluating membranes\u2019 performance and techno-economic efficiency.Overall, the research aims to develop a cost-effective and efficient method, membranes, for hydrogen purification from ammonia instead of using the common industrial method known as pressure swing adsorption (PSA).","rp_start_date":"2024-02-01 14:04:01","rp_duration":48,"rp_main_funder":"Luxembourg National Research Fund","rp_other_funders":[],"rp_external_partners":[],"rp_keywords":["Hydrogen","Membrane separation","Ammonia","Energy transition","Green Energy","Decarbonisation","Covalent Organic framework (COF)"],"rp_members":[{"name":"Bradley Paul LADEWIG","isPI":true,"isExternal":false,"featuredImageUrl":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/en\/person-image\/NTAwNTU0MDBfX0JyYWRsZXkgUGF1bCBMQURFV0lH","detailsPageUrl":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/people\/bradley-paul-ladewig\/","id":"50055400"},{"name":"Reza SABOURI","isPI":false,"isExternal":false,"featuredImageUrl":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/en\/person-image\/NTAwNzUzMjVfX1JlemEgU0FCT1VSSQ==","detailsPageUrl":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/people\/reza-sabouri\/","id":"50075325"},{"name":"Nicholaus PRASETYA","isPI":false,"isExternal":false,"featuredImageUrl":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/en\/person-image\/NTAwODY3NDNfX05pY2hvbGF1cyBQUkFTRVRZQQ==","detailsPageUrl":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/people\/nicholaus-prasetya\/","id":"50086743"},{"name":"Kris HELTEN","isPI":false,"isExternal":false,"featuredImageUrl":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/en\/person-image\/NTAwNzQ1MzRfX0tyaXMgSEVMVEVO","detailsPageUrl":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/people\/kris-helten\/","id":"50074534"}]},"research-project-status":[275],"research-project-type":[267],"field-of-interest":[287],"organisation":[47,29,63],"authorship":[305],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/core-researches\/28575"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/core-researches"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/core-researches"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/305"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/core-researches\/28575\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":28576,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/core-researches\/28575\/revisions\/28576"}],"wp:authorship":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/305"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=28575"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"research-project-status","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/research-project-status?post=28575"},{"taxonomy":"research-project-type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/research-project-type?post=28575"},{"taxonomy":"field-of-interest","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/field-of-interest?post=28575"},{"taxonomy":"organisation","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/organisation?post=28575"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
