This knowledge will further allow determining the maximum admissible thermomechanical stresses and deformations under different stress states. So that the hearth lining design and composition of a reactor can be optimized and their lifetime extended. Additionally, a reliable work-methodology must be given with the intention that in a future stage the thermomechanical optimization of the metallurgical reactor with the help of parametric analysis can be performed. As a result, the main issue of this thesis is the identification and selection of an acceptable design criterion where the thermomechanical resistance capacity of the refractories is analysed and compared with the experimental tests. The proposed design criterion is meant to describe the capacity of the different refractory materials to withstand the thermomechanical stresses under multiaxial stress conditions. Consequently, the design method must be able to take into account the temperature effects on the refractory material. Additionally, the design procedure must be compatible with the nowadays available finite element analysis software and allow the metallurgical reactor optimization by varying in a later stage material properties and\/or geometrical dimensions. \n\nFor this reason, a vast thermomechanical experimental layout was elaborated so that the thermomechanical structural behaviour of the different shaped refractories are analysed. This serves the future ability of numerical simulations so that the hearth lining thermomechanical generated stresses in process can be determined. \n\nFunded by the ArcelorMittal  \nResearch Assistant: David RODRIGUES \n03.2007 \u2013 02.2011 \n\nPhD-Thesis Title:  Identification of material thermal stress-strain behavior for simulation of conditions in metallurgical reactors \nPhD-Thesis URL:\u202fhttp:\/\/hdl.handle.net\/10993\/15625  ","rp_start_date":"2007-03-01 13:42:35","rp_duration":48,"rp_main_funder":"ArcelorMittal","rp_other_funders":[],"rp_external_partners":[],"rp_keywords":[],"rp_members":[{"name":"Christoph ODENBREIT","isPI":true,"isExternal":false,"featuredImageUrl":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/en\/person-image\/NTAwMDI3NzhfX0NocmlzdG9waCBPREVOQlJFSVQ=","detailsPageUrl":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/blog\/people\/christoph-odenbreit\/","id":"50002778"},{"name":"David RODRIGUES","isPI":false,"isExternal":true,"featuredImageUrl":"","detailsPageUrl":"","entity":"University of Luxembourg until end of the project"}]},"research-project-status":[],"research-project-type":[274],"field-of-interest":[287],"organisation":[51],"authorship":[218,348],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/core-researches\/12631"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/core-researches"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/core-researches"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/218"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/core-researches\/12631\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":12635,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/core-researches\/12631\/revisions\/12635"}],"wp:authorship":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/218"},{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/348"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=12631"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"research-project-status","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/research-project-status?post=12631"},{"taxonomy":"research-project-type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/research-project-type?post=12631"},{"taxonomy":"field-of-interest","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/field-of-interest?post=12631"},{"taxonomy":"organisation","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/organisation?post=12631"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
