The main objective of this research project is to understand the structural performance of the proposed solution through experimental and numerical investigations. The steel beam is composed of a I-shaped main beam and an additional half I-shaped beam welded at the top flange of main beam. The additional half I-shaped beam steel is used not only as the shear connector of the composite system, but it also contributes in bending, increasing the load carrying capacity of the system. Experimental tests will be carried out to define the behaviour of the system; in construction stage, with only the composed beam and in the operational stage with steel-concrete composite beam. Numerical models will be validated with the tests results.
