Learning outcomes

Graduates will be able to practice medical oncology in all countries of the European Union.

    Objectives

    The speciality training in medical oncology aims to:

    • Learn clinical oncology: prevention, clinical diagnosis, medical treatment and rehabilitation measures for all neoplastic diseases, palliative care and follow-up controls.
    • Adapt the knowledge in the field of internal medicine to that of oncology.
    • Integrate the knowledge into a multidisciplinary approach by becoming familiar with other medical disciplines and by collaborating with other health professionals.
    • Interpret correctly scientific publications and reports in their field of specialisation.
    • Carry out research or development projects independently and thereby generate new knowledge, skills and attitudes.

    Learning outcomes

    • Acquire the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to work independently under one’s own responsibility or in a specialised hospital department in all areas of medical oncology.
    • Acquire knowledge of the general basis of other disciplines of malignant tumour medicine.
    • Acquire knowledge of the legislative, regulatory and ethical framework surrounding the practice of medical oncology in Luxembourg.
    • Acquire the ability to independently initiate specific discussions to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes of others in the scientific or professional field.
