Sahar NIKNAM

Sahar Niknam is a Doctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM), Department of Computer Science, at the University of Luxembourg. She is a member of the VR/AR Lab, where she is writing her thesis on immersive technologies.

Sahar’s research focuses on using deep learning in virtual environments to design smart user interfaces. Using eye-tracking data and EEG signals, she is training neural networks that evaluate users’ perception of time. Her work also explores the potential of personalized neural networks in predicting users’ performance, moments before failures in completing a cognitive task.

Since beginning her studies at UL, Sahar has participated in several outreach activities organized by DESCOM, including Science Slam 2022, Science Comics: LuXploration (3rd Volume), and Science Festival 2023, enjoying communicating her research with the public.

Sahar holds an MSc in Cognitive Science from Osnabrück University, where she graduated with distinction, majoring in Neuroinformatics and Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence. Previously, she explored but did not complete MSc programs in Philosophy of Science at Sharif University of Technology, Iran, and Creative Studies at Buffalo State University, US. She received her BSc in Robotics Engineering from Shahrood University of Technology, Iran.
