Assoc. Prof Frank SCHOLZEN

Frank Scholzen is Associate Professor in supply engineering of buildings at the University of Luxembourg. He leads the Building Energy and Building Services Engineering research group within the Department of Engineering.

Energy efficiency in buildings and industry

Prof. Scholzen is the Study Programme co-Director of the Bachelor in Engineering.

From 1997 to 2000, Frank Scholzen worked as a consulting engineer in building energy systems at Jean Schmit Engineering in Luxembourg. Between 2000 and 2008, he also served as a consulting engineer and headed several departments in the environmental domain at Luxcontrol. He joined the University of Luxembourg in 2008.

Frank’s academic background is in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in energy systems. He obtained the title of Diplom-Ingenieur in 1992 from ETH Zurich (Switzerland). He then pursued his PhD at the Laboratory for Energy Systems at ETH Zurich under the supervision of Prof. Peter Suter, completing it in 1997. During his doctoral studies, he also spent two months at the Swedish National Institute for Building Research under the guidance of Prof. Mats Sandberg.
