Prof Adolfo DEL CAMPO ECHEVARRIA

Adolfo Del Campo is a Full professor of Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics in the Department Physics and Materials Science at the University of Luxembourg, and the Director of the Quantum Information Science and Technology group.

His research focuses on Theoretical Quantum Physics, Quantum Science and Technology. Research lines in the group target Foundations of Nonequilibrium Quantum Matter:

2. Quantum Information Geometry, Quantum Speed Limits, Universal Bounds on Quantum Dynamics and Quantum Metrology
3.  Universality and Control of Classical and Quantum Phase Transitions
4.  Speeding up Adiabatic Quantum Computation

Professor Del Campo has given over 200 invited talks colloquia and seminars worldwide and published over 150 publications in peer-reviewed academic journals (h-index=55). He serves on the editorial boards of Physical Review A (American Physical Society), AVS Quantum Science (IOP), and Scientific Reports (Nature Publishing Group).

Professor Del Campo joined the University of Luxembourg in 2021. Previously he was an Ikerbasque Research Professor at the Donostia International Physics Center-DIPC (Spain) and a tenured associated professor at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He was a Distinguished J. Robert Oppenheimer Fellow at Los Alamos National Laborator (USA), and a postdoc at Imperial College London (UK), Ulm University and the Leibniz University of Hannover (Germany).

Professor Del Campo obtained is BSc in Physical Chemistry at the University of Basque Country (Spain), completing the program as a TASSEP Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the USA. He obtained his PhD in Science (theoretical quantum physics) at the University of Basque Country, Spain.
