The Faculty celebrates its 2023 graduates

In December 2023, the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) celebrated its 550 new graduates from Bachelor, Master, PhD, specialised and vocational training programmes on Belval campus. Congratulations to all of them!

BACHELOR CEREMONY

On 12 December 2023, 165 new students received their diplomas from the Bachelor en Médecine, Bachelor in Engineering, Bachelor in Applied Information Technology, Bachelor in Computer Science, Bachelor in Mathematics, Bachelor in Physics and Bachelor en Sciences de la Vie – Filière Biologie. The Faculty was really proud to celebrate the first graduates from the Bachelor en Médecine. The ceremony was moderated by Prof. Pascal Bouvry, Dean of the Faculty. After a welcome speech by Prof. Jens Kreisel, Rector of the University, Jean-Claude Juncker, former President of the European Commission gave a keynote speech about “Europe: challenges and perspectives”.

In addition, three students were awarded for their outstanding results. Lisa Anne Syndikus from the Bachelor in Engineering received the Best Mobility Award, the Luxembourg Engineers and Scientists Award and the Portabella Excellence and Mobilty Award. Olivier Philip Jack from the Bachelor in Mathematics received the Luxembourg Mathematical Society Bachelor Student Prize and the Portabella Academic Excellence Award. Francesco Illuzzi from the Bachelor in Medicine received the Best Bachelor’s degree in Medicine – Dr Jean-Claude Loutsch Award for academic excellence.

MASTER CEREMONY

On 12 December 2023, 184 new students received their diplomas from the Master in Mathematics, Master in Secondary Education Mathematics, Master in Data Science, Master of Science in Physics, Master of Science in Civil Engineering – Megastructure Engineering with Sustainable Resources, Master of Science in Engineering – Sustainable Product Creation, Master en Sciences de l’ingénieur – Efficacité énergétique et économique, Master en Développement durable, Master in Information and Computer Sciences, Master in Information System Security Management, Interdisciplinary Space Master, Master in Technopreneurship, Master in Integrated Systems Biology, International Master of Science in Biomedicine, European Master of Small Animal Veterinary Practice, Certificate of Small Animal Veterinary Practice. The Faculty was really proud to celebrate the first graduates from the Master in Data Science and the first graduates from the Master in Technopreneurship.

The ceremony was moderated by Prof. Pascal Bouvry, Dean of the Faculty. After a welcome speech by Prof. Simone Niclou, Vice-Rector for Research at the University, Sabika Ishaq, Security Officer at Grant Thornton Luxembourg and President or Women Cyber Force Luxembourg gave a keynote speech about “Breaking barriers and building stronger shields”.

In addition, six students were awarded for their outstanding results. Maximilian Joseph Amort from the Master of Science in Engineering – Sustainable Product Creation received the Best Average Grade Award, Keerthana Murugaraj from the Master in Information and Computer Sciences received the Germain Dondelinger Award, Zahra Aminigarakani from the Master of Science in Engineering – Sustainable Product Creation receives the Lanners Prize, Barbara Lauren Gendron from the Master in Mathematics and Tim Seuré from the Master in Data Science received the Luxembourg Mathematical Society Master Student Prizes, Gabriel Frasson Nunes from the Master of Science in Civil Engineering – Megastructure Engineering with Sustainable Resources received the OAI Award.

SPECIALISED MEDECINE CEREMONY

On 11 December 2023, 18 new students received their diplomas from the Formation Spécifique en Médecine Générale and Master en Médecine Générale. The ceremony was moderated by Prof. Gilbert Massard, Director of Medical Education at the University. The Two Ministers Martine Deprez for Health and Social Security and Stéphanie Obertin for Higher Education and Research were present and congratulated the graduates. Prof. Nico Haas, President of the training committee together with the members of the committee called the graduates on stage to read the Hippocratic oath and to receive their diplomas.

In addition, two students were awarded for their outstanding results: Berina Adrovic and Denis Jans received the Doctor Robert Kraus scholarship for the promotion of general medicine.
