Simulation-based healthcare education (SimUL)

SimUL is the health simulation facility of the University of Luxembourg, dedicated to education and training in the healthcare professions. It provides realistic clinical learning environments where students and healthcare professionals can develop technical competencies, communication skills, and clinical decision-making abilities through simulation-based learning.

The role of simulation in healthcare education

Simulation-based learning is a pedagogical approach in healthcare training. It allows learners to practice clinical procedures, teamwork, and communication in a controlled environment before encountering comparable situations in clinical settings. Established in 2021 to support the development of healthcare education, SimUL contributes to teaching and training in medicine, nursing, midwifery and medical imaging, promoting experiential learning, interprofessional collaboration, and reflective practice in a safe and supportive environment. The underlying principle is straightforward: clinical procedures should never be performed for the first time on a patient.
