Qiuni FU

Current position

Qiuni FU is a Research Scientist within the research group of Structural Engineering and Composite Structures at the Department of Engineering.

Research

Her research focuses on promoting the recycling of demolition waste into high-value, reusable construction materials and on developing novel, material-efficient, and cost-effective structural systems. The research has been supported by the highly prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships (€ 192k), and she also received funding from Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) CORE 2025 (€ 704k). So far, Qiuni has published over 20+ articles in peer-reviewed high-rank journals (h-index of 15, citations of 1500+, according to Scopus) and serves as a reviewer of dozens of reputable journals.

Outreach

Qiuni has been actively involved in outreach activities, such as the “Researchers at School” initiative organised by FNR, aiming to promote civil engineering as an engaging and gender-inclusive career path.

Work Experience

From 06.2013 to 12.2013, she worked as a structural engineer in China Northeast Architectural design Co. Ltd. After obtaining PhD degree in 09.2018, she became a research fellow at NTU. Between 02.2019 and 04.2023, she was a postdoc at Technische Universität Braunschweig in Germany. Since 07.2023, the MSCA fellowship brought her to the University of Luxembourg.

Educational background

Qiuni obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Civil/Structural Engineering from Chongqing University in China and her PhD from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
