Allein im Jahr 2024 wurden sch\u00e4tzungsweise 330.000 Menschen neu diagnostiziert und 60.000 Menschen starben an den Folgen dieser Krankheit. Die Weltgesundheitsorganisation prognostiziert, dass die Zahl der Patienten bis 2040 auf eine halbe Million pro Jahr ansteigen k\u00f6nnte.<br><br>Obwohl in den letzten 15 Jahren bedeutende therapeutische Fortschritte erzielt wurden \u2013 darunter die zielgerichtete Therapie und die Immuntherapie, von denen viele dank der Melanomforschung entwickelt wurden \u2013, bleibt ein gro\u00dfes Hindernis bestehen: die Arzneimittelresistenz. Die Patienten zeigen oft zun\u00e4chst eine bemerkenswerte Reaktion auf die Behandlung mit einer Verkleinerung der Tumore, doch einige Monate sp\u00e4ter kehrt der Krebs zur\u00fcck \u2013 aggressiver und resistent gegen Medikamente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>An der Universit\u00e4t Luxemburg geht die Professorin f\u00fcr Molekularbiologie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/people\/stephanie-kreis\/\">Stephanie Kreis<\/a> mit ihrer Forschungsgruppe genau diesem Problem auf den Grund. Als Co-Leiterin der Forschungsgruppe f\u00fcr Signaltransduktion konzentriert sich die Arbeit von Professorin Kreis zunehmend auf die Entwicklung innovativer Modelle zum Verst\u00e4ndnis und zur \u00dcberwindung der Arzneimittelresistenz, um den Patienten bessere Behandlungsm\u00f6glichkeiten zu bieten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-button-list-v2\">\n<li
