Through statistical simulations and computational modelling, this work group, led by Prof.\u00a0Rudi Balling and Dr Alexander Skupin,\u00a0provides short- and medium-term projections that can be used to\u00a0support the healthcare system,\u00a0identify priorities and facilitate decision-making.<\/p><p>\u201cThe results of these continuous modelling efforts, based on data provided by the ministries, are regularly published on the Research Luxembourg website in the form of reports focusing on different aspects,\u201d explains Dr Skupin. For example, amongst the most recent reports, one is dedicated to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/storage.fnr.lu\/index.php\/s\/nQH1ATXc7GjR3Dj\/download\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">analysis of the effectiveness of Large-Scale Testing<\/a>\u00a0and another one is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/storage.fnr.lu\/index.php\/s\/hqANPRKMKPbl6H6\/download\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">analysing the current numbers from the perspective of a potential 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\u00a0wave<\/a>. The researchers also worked on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/storage.fnr.lu\/index.php\/s\/UOZO8rQ9PJmzeEo\/download\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">exit strategy in Luxembourg<\/a>\u00a0and on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/storage.fnr.lu\/index.php\/s\/IeBD8dpVn79V1mE\/download\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">future deconfinement measures<\/a>.<\/p><p>All the reports are available for download in the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/researchluxembourg.lu\/publications\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Publications<\/a>\u201d section of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/researchluxembourg.lu\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Research Luxembourg website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"a-glossary-to-understand-specific-terminology\"\n    >\nA glossary to understand specific terminology<\/h2>\n<p>Three researchers from the same work package, including Daniele Proverbio, PhD student within the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wwwen.uni.lu\/lcsb\/research\/systems_control\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">Systems Control group<\/a>\u00a0at the LCSB, also developed an extensive glossary of terms related to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p><p>As, in the course of the pandemic, journalists and the general public have been increasingly confronted with technical terms and concepts that are otherwise only of importance to experts, the three authors put together definitions and short explanations to help readers understand this specific terminology.
