Based on blood samples from Chinese COVID-19 patients the researchers developed machine-learning tools to identify key biomarkers of disease severity, which will facilitate the identification of high-risk patients. The results predict the survival of individual patients with an accuracy of over 90%.<\/p><p>The results highlighted in <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwfr.uni.lu\/universite\/actualites\/diaporama\/covid_19_evaluer_le_pronostic_des_patients_hospitalises\" target=\"_self\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">this article<\/a> have since been published in the scientific journal Nature Machine Intelligence and have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cam.ac.uk\/news\/tackling-covid-19-professor-jorge-goncalves\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"noopener\">picked up by the University of Cambridge<\/a>. Prof. Jorge Gon\u00e7alves, Principal Investigator at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) of the University of Luxembourg, works among others in Cambridge, Luxembourg and Wuhan. He is an expert in artificial intelligence and mathematical\u00a0modelling\u00a0of complex systems.<\/p><p>He has been highly involved in the modelling of survival prediction for COVID-19 patients and helping to identify high-risk patients.
