Founded in 2003, the University of Luxembourg is the first and only university of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Multilingual and international, it is a modern institution with a friendly atmosphere.<\/p>

The primary focus of the University is research and the bulk of the degrees offered are at masters and doctoral level. It undertakes work in a broad range of disciplines and was ranked joint first for its international outlook in the THE World University Rankings 2016 and this is reflected in the composition of both staff and student bodies.<\/p>

The University has three academic faculties devoted to first-rate teaching and research: the Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication; the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance; and the Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education. It also has three interdisciplinary centres, which foster research excellence and knowledge transfer: the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust, the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine and the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History.<\/p>

The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the University oversees all Learning-and Teaching-related activities (Bachelor, Master, lifelong learning). He\/She also is responsible for all aspects of students\u2019 experience at the University of Luxembourg. Reporting to the Rector, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs will have a decisive and forward-looking role in defining the vision and strategy for the institution\u2019s L & T activities and will be key in introducing new student centered teaching methods. As a member of the senior management team, he\/she will provide strategic leadership for the L & T activities across all three academic faculties and three interdisciplinary centres. Key responsibilities will also include evaluation and improvement of learning and teaching quality. The candidate will also be an ambassador for the organisation.<\/p>

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work \u201cup, down and across\u201d the organisation and bring the empathy and sensitivity to build constructive relationships with academic and managerial colleagues across all faculties. They should have the stature and the credibility to build and maintain a wide range of internal and external relationships with academic communities, civil society and other stakeholders and partners, promoting the University\u2019s excellence and enhancing its reputation. Furthermore, they should bring a performance-oriented working style and innovative and visionary thinking with regard to strategic planning activities.<\/p>

The successful candidate for this role will be a full professor of international stature, with extensive leadership experience in leading academic affairs, including enhancing students\u2019 experience, in higher education institutions. He\/she will also have expertise in setting-up and managing quality assurance systems in higher education and will demonstrate confirmed proficiency in English and French.<\/p>
