Adrian\u00a0courageously fought against illness with\u00a0unwavering\u00a0determination.\u00a0It is an immeasurable loss for our\u00a0Faculty, and we extend our deepest sympathies to\u00a0his\u00a0family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.<\/p><p>Adrian was a sociologist and worked as a Research Scientist at the Institute for Social Research and Interventions. He joined the University of Luxembourg in 2016, having previously held different positions at several German universities. Adrian was a popular teacher in the Bachelor en science sociales et \u00e9ducatives and an internationally renowned expert in sociological gender studies. His work on processes of minoritising unusual genders has been pathbreaking, and his dissertation \u201cNegotiating the Borders of the Gender Regime:\u00a0Developments and Debates on Trans(sexuality) in the Federal Republic of Germany\u201d is a classic in its field.\u00a0<\/p><p>Beyond\u00a0Adrian\u2019s\u00a0professional achievements,\u00a0he\u00a0was a warm-hearted individual.\u00a0He leaves many friends across the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences and the University where he was loved by many and esteemed by all.\u00a0<\/p><p>In honor of\u00a0Adrian\u2019s\u00a0memory, a book of condolences\u00a0will be available at the reception desk of the Maison des Sciences Humaines until Thursday evening.<\/p><\/div><\/section>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our\u00a0dear\u00a0colleague,\u00a0Adrian De Silva\u00a0on\u00a0Tuesday, 13 June 2023.
