From 25th<\/sup> June to 13th<\/sup> July 2018, the University of Luxembourg held the second edition of its International Summer School ULISS. The summer school was co-organised by the International Relations Office and the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History, C2DH, under the title of \u201cDecoding Europe: On the Traces of the Past\u201d.<\/p>

ULISS is a combination of language classes, either French or English, and an inter-disciplinary exploration of Europe and the European Union.<\/p>

The second edition welcomed 26 students coming from 13 different countries (China, India, Japan, Brazil, Taiwan, Korea, Kosovo, Turkey, USA, Mexico, Ukraine and Luxembourg).<\/p>

The first two weeks were dedicated to decoding Europe and combined academic lectures, expert interventions on site, as well as \u201chands on workshops\u201d during specific field trips. The idea was to show that the history of Europe is not one-dimensional but built on the confrontation of multiple narratives and transnational experiences. The last week consisted of language instruction in either French for beginners or advanced English.<\/p>

The three-week summer programme gave participants the chance to discover the country and its University in only three weeks. It mainly targeted students from our partner universities outside Europe.<\/p>
