{"id":9331,"date":"2023-04-04T15:40:19","date_gmt":"2023-04-04T13:40:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fr\/events\/eppo-the-way-forward-new-potentials-and-challenges\/"},"modified":"2023-04-04T15:40:19","modified_gmt":"2023-04-04T13:40:19","slug":"eppo-the-way-forward-new-potentials-and-challenges","status":"publish","type":"events","link":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fr\/events\/eppo-the-way-forward-new-potentials-and-challenges\/","title":{"rendered":"EPPO the way forward: New potentials and challenges"},"content":{"rendered":"<section class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-free-section section\"><div class=\"container xl:max-w-screen-xl\"><p><strong>The University of Luxembourg, in collaboration with the European Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office (EPPO), is organising the upcoming Conference \u201cEPPO the way forward: new potentials and challenges\u201d (5-6 June 2023).<\/strong><\/p><p>Now that the EPPO is operational for almost two years, new questions and challenges have come up. First, the discussion has moved towards testing the adequacy, appropriateness and completeness of the EPPO\u2019s legal framework. The European Commission has recently launched a study to assess the implementation of the EPPO Regulation in the Member States, while the first preliminary question has been submitted to the CJEU seeking clarifications on the provision of cross-border investigations. Second, the integration of the EPPO into the European Judicial Space is raising numerous questions about the real nature and status of this new body. Finally, although the EPPO is a very recent development in European criminal law, there are already calls for the extension of its material scope of competence to crimes other than the crimes against the financial interests of the EU.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The Conference will offer the occasion to discuss these questions, and other potentials and challenges that have arisen since the start of the EPPO\u2019s operations with the view to launching further research and policy debate.
