\nImpact of COVID-19 on Green Supply Chains\/Circular-Sustainable Economy<\/h2>\n\n

\nAbstract<\/h2>\n

What does it mean to be a \u00ab\u00a0green supply chain\u00a0\u00bb?<\/strong><\/p>

Green Supply Chain Management aims to integrate environmental concerns into the supply chain process across industries – how did the COVID-19 pandemic disrupt this effort and the \u00ab\u00a0circular\u00a0\u00bb or sustainable economic sphere?<\/p>

Everyone noticed the reduced levels of pollution during the crisis due to the lockdowns (no airplane emissions; less traffic; industrial plants shut down), but will we maintain this smaller carbon footprint and provide a boost to the circular economy, or will sustainable plans be disrupted?<\/p>

Expert guests from the European Investment Bank, which has been responding to the crisis from the beginning from a financial support perspective and targeted projects, as well as from industry (steel giant ArcelorMittal, based in Luxembourg) and LIST, the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology, will share their experiences and perspectives on the subject.<\/p>

We will ask them how the impact has been redressed and how we can leverage lessons learned to optimize supply chain processes and protect against future shocks?<\/p>

\nFeaturing expert speakers:<\/h4>\n

Shiva Dustdar<\/a>, Head of Division Innovation Finance Advisory \/ Circular Economy expert, European Investment Bank (EIB)<\/p>

Shiva Dustdar has over 25 years of experience in the financial industry working for large private and public institutions in New York, London and Luxembourg. Since joining EIB in 2003, she has worked in risk management, lending and investing in innovative companies and currently heads the Innovation Finance Advisory (IFA) Division in the EIB which she was tasked to set up in 2013.<\/p>

Carl De Mar\u00e9<\/a>, VP, Head of Technology Strategy, ArcelorMittal<\/p>

Civil Engineer, Master (Specialisation Electro-Mechanical Engineer) \u2013 University of Gent 1985.<\/p>

Joined the company in September 1988 – site of ArcelorMittal Gent. Active in different areas: IT development, Research centre for steel applications, quality control for the finishing area.<\/p>

From 2002 to end 2006, General Manager of the Steelplant department of ArcelorMittal Gent. Moved end 2006 to the segment level of ArcelorMittal, first as Continuous Improvement responsible for Flat Europe and since May 2008 named Vice-President of ArcelorMittal as CTO of Flat Carbon Europe, responsible for technology, strategy, innovation and continuous improvement.<\/p>

Since 2014, named Vice-President ArcelorMittal as Head of Technology Strategy, responsible for the global program on Low-Impact Steel technologies. In April 2017, became Chairman of the European Steel Technology Platform (ESTEP), representing the European steel stakeholders.<\/p>

Dr. Enrico Benetto<\/a>, Head of \u00ab\u00a0Environmental Sustainability Assessment and Circularity\u00a0\u00bb RDI Unit, Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST)<\/p>

The purpose of Enrico’s work is to sustain the ecological and energy transition towards a more sustainable society. To this aim, he takes benefit from a 20-year leadership experience in RDI institutions in the field of environmental sustainability and risk assessment of products, technologies and policies, helping decision-making in industry and public policy.<\/p>

His style of leadership is evidence-based, focused on the alignment and engagement of collaborators through trust, transparent communication and business agility and on the definition and successful implementation of factual strategies.<\/p>

His RDI vision in the domain is built around the smart integration of computational approaches from sustainability science into innovative (software) tools to address today\u2019s socio-economic and business challenges, in particular in the field of Smart Manufacturing (composites, industry 4.0), Circular Economy (business models, demonstrators), Smart Cities (connected and electromobility, BIM) and Green Finance.<\/p>
