Luca Ratti, University of Luxembou<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p><p>EU anti-discrimination legislation has existed since the 1970s in respect of gender equality and since 2000 for the grounds of racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age and sexual orientation. Yet research continues to disclose persistent inequalities in the labour market, such as the gender pay gap. Surveys also indicate that only a minority of people raise a formal complaint if they experience discrimination or harassment at work.\u00a0This lecture will reflect upon the\u00a0strengths\u00a0and limitations of the individual rights\u00a0model that characterises EU anti-discrimination law.
