Luce Professor of Law and Political Science, Yale University.\u00a0She has published widely in the fields of law, economics, and public policy, and she has edited nine books on aspects of corruption and administrative law.<\/p><p>The Donald Trump administration and its allies in Congress are making a concerted effort to undermine many well-established values behind the US administrative state. This shift in direction is taking place through executive orders and the appointment of cabinet and agency officials who are unsympathetic with the underlying goals of the statutes they are charged with enforcing. However, of greater long-term effect may be efforts to amend and repeal key administrative law statutes and to override judicial decisions that constrain the policymaking process inside the administration and the agencies. The talk will assess the most important of these efforts and their potential impact on the regulation of health, safety, and the environment and on efforts to deal with monopoly power and market failure.<\/p><\/div><\/section>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SpeakerSusan Rose-Ackerman is Henry R.
