The significance of Portuguese migration to Luxembourg is widely known, its historical development and socio-cultural implications are important subjects of academic study. Luxembourg\u2019s relationships with other parts of the Lusophone world and the interrelatedness of various historical and contemporary mobilities and exchanges are less explored. By bringing together scholars from Portugal, Brazil and Luxembourg who are engaged in historical and social science research the symposium transcends the binational perspective thus seeking to further our understanding of the temporal and geographical complexity of processes of migration and exchange. Individual contributions reach from work on 17th century missionaries and 18th century Azorean migrants in Brazil to the study of recent movements from the non-European Lusophone world to Portugal and Luxembourg. The program also includes an exposition and a film as well as a public roundtable on the question of migration and citizenship<\/p>

O significado da migra\u00e7\u00e3o portuguesa para o Luxemburgo \u00e9 amplamente <\/i>conhecido, o seu desenvolvimento hist\u00f3rico e as implica\u00e7\u00f5es socioculturais <\/i>s\u00e3o importantes temas de estudo acad\u00e9mico. As rela\u00e7\u00f5es do Luxemburgo <\/i>com outras partes do mundo lus\u00f3fono e a interrela\u00e7\u00e3o de v\u00e1rias mobilidades e <\/i>trocas hist\u00f3ricas e contempor\u00e2neas s\u00e3o menos exploradas. Ao reunir estudiosos <\/i>de Portugal, Brasil e Luxemburgo que se dedicam \u00e0 pesquisas em Hist\u00f3ria e <\/i>Ci\u00eancias Sociais, o simp\u00f3sio transcende a perspectiva binacional, buscando <\/i>aprofundar nossa compreens\u00e3o da complexidade temporal e geogr\u00e1fica dos <\/i>processos de migra\u00e7\u00e3o e interc\u00e2mbio. <\/i>As contribui\u00e7\u00f5es individuais v\u00e3o desde o trabalho com mission\u00e1rios do s\u00e9culo <\/i>XVII e migrantes a\u00e7orianos do s\u00e9culo XVIII no Brasil at\u00e9 o estudo de movimentos <\/i>recentes do mundo lus\u00f3fono n\u00e3o europeu para Portugal e Luxemburgo. A <\/i>programa\u00e7\u00e3o inclui ainda uma exposi\u00e7\u00e3o e um filme, bem como uma mesa <\/i>redonda p\u00fablica sobre a quest\u00e3o de migra\u00e7\u00e3o e cidadania.<\/i><\/p>
