However, explaining how such inequalities are reproduced over time remains a challenge. The concept of Cultural Capital offers a theoretically sound and empirically innovative approach to understand how material and non-material resources interplay in<\/p><p>the social distribution of the chances to live a healthy life. French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu first introduced the notion of Cultural Capital referring to three major forms namely, embodied, objectified and institutionalized Cultural Capital. In this talk, I provide an introduction into the concept of Cultural Capital and how it is currently applied by health researchers to explain social differences in health and illness, health-related practices, and the nature of interactions with various aspects of healthcare systems.
