Despite progress, gender disparities in science persist.<\/p>

Women remain underrepresented in the scientific<\/p>

workforce and under rewarded for their contributions.<\/p>

This talk will examine multiple layers of gender<\/p>

disparities in science, triangulating data from<\/p>

bibliometric data and social surveys to provide<\/p>

a broader perspective on the gendered nature<\/p>

of scientific communication. Science of science<\/p>

provides a novel lens to evaluate these issues,<\/p>

drawing upon theories from sociology of science<\/p>

and utilizing new developments in scientometrics.<\/p>

The work will examine the contributions to<\/p>

scientific articles, disparities in productivity, and the<\/p>

impact of scientific work. Factors from grant funding<\/p>

to parenting will be examined. The talk will close on<\/p>

a discussion of the science policy implications of this<\/p>

evidence as well as charting a trajectory for science of<\/p>

science that includes issues of justice and equity.<\/p>
