At the Institute of History, we focus on the Southern Netherlands and on the Duchy of Luxembourg in its transregional embedding during this pivotal period. We study this area\u2019s political and military role as part of the composite monarchies of Spain, Austria and France. We highlight the uses of the written and spoken word and the staging of power and resistance.
