The Agora Luxembourgeoise Participative de l\u2019Intervention Sociale (ALICES) recently held the second edition of the ALICES Dag<\/em>, an event designed for social work students, professionals and researchers. This event aims to connect students from the Bachelor en sciences sociales et \u00e9ducatives<\/a> with national organisations and service providers from the social work sector. Throughout the day, students at various stages of their studies have the chance to discover the diverse fields and roles within the social service sector, explore different career interests and prepare for internships or the job market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nBridging theory and practice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nearly 60 organisations working across different areas of social intervention participated in the event to present their work and provide students with invaluable insights into their work realities. Students were encouraged to exercise their ability to connect with these professionals, thereby applying the knowledge and skills they gained during their studies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

ALICES Dag<\/em> also provides a platform to develop new initiatives, foster dialogue and enhance collaboration between academia and practice. The event gives the researchers at the Department of Education and Social Work<\/a> a unique opportunity to engage with professionals, discuss challenges and opportunities within the national social service sector, exchange ideas and kickstart new initiatives. In this line, an ALICES<\/em> workshop is scheduled for spring 2025, building on the discussions from this year\u2019s event.<\/p>\n\n\n

\nALICES Living Lab<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The ALICES Living Lab is an initiative by the Department of Education and Social Work<\/a> at the University of Luxembourg. Its mission is to strengthen collaboration between higher education, social service providers, users, and professional organisations. ALICES organises events at the university and other locations across Luxembourg to showcase research, build meaningful partnerships with social sector stakeholders, and work together to identify and prioritise key issues.<\/p>\n\n\n
