The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fhse-en\/events\/lecture-estonias-security-predicament-internal-inequality-external-threat\/\">second lecture<\/a> will take place on <strong>24 April 2026<\/strong>, from <strong>11:00 to 14:00<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>About the lecture:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This presentation draws on the conclusions of the author&#8217;s book,&nbsp;<em>Gender, Nationalism, and War: Conflict on the Movie Screen<\/em>&nbsp;(Cambridge UP, 2012), to generate early warning indicators of gendered nationalist violence. They include: economic decline that threatens men\u2019s sense of manhood (\u201cproliferation of small men\u201d); restrictions on women\u2019s reproductive rights; increase in domestic violence; and exclusion of all forms of political identity &nbsp;(e.g., class or gender) except a nationalist one.
