Parents and their 4- to 6- year-old children will engage in a 20-minute block play session, involving free play as well as playful activities. The play will be videotaped and analysed for parent-child interactions.\nThe project will address three objectives. First, it will examine parental attitudes towards play and the home learning environment, and how they relate to children's cognitive and motivational development. Moreover, it will investigate the interplay of parent and child characteristics with their interactions during play. Last, it will look into differences in parent-child interactions between free play and playful activities. The findings from this project will help us understand the effect of play on children\u2019s cognitive and motivational development and how parents can easily enrich the play time of their child.
